open
Try not to close like a tulip,
petals tight,
protecting your center,
when the world feels cold.
Stay open,
looking outward and upward,
starting with love,
growing in rain.
Letting every single droplet
cleanse toxic air,
land and sink into the earth,
touching your roots.
With each new storm
may you ground yourself
in truth.
So that after you’re cut down,
and bloom again next spring,
you’ll see the world again for what it is.
Hopefully it will be better -
and you’ll stay open until it is.
